Allianz Arena, home to Bayern Munich F.C., came into being due to a public vote on 21st October 2002 on whether a new stadium should be built in Munich with the city providing the required infrastructure. Over 65% of the voters were in favour. As a result, the Allianz Arena, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, was completed in 2005 with its infamous exterior of inflated, self-cleaning, ETFE plastic panels which can change colour. It has a capacity of 70,000 for international matches and 75,024 for domestic matches.
